One Pot Lasagna  with Meatballs

dice the shallots

mince the  garlic cloves

dice the carrots

remove casings from sausages, roll into meatballs

heat oil and butter  over medium high  in a large heavy  bottomed skillet

add meatballs

brown on all sides, about 6 minutes

remove from skillet

add shallot  and garlic, cook for  2 minutes

stir in salt, pepper,  paprika, sage and  red pepper flakes

add carrots, cook for 1 minute

deglaze with  white wine,  simmer for  2 minutes

pour in  chicken broth,  bring to a boil

add crushed  tomatoes

stir in  cream cheese

add lasagna noodles, push down  to submerge

simmer for  15 minutes, stir occasionally

add meatballs  and their  released juices

top with cheddar, torn mozzarella  and Parmesan

sprinkle with  black pepper and  red pepper flakes,  cover and simmer  for 10 minutes

sprinkle with  parsley, let stand for  5 minutes

alternatively,  place under the broiler for a  golden-brown top
