This is how I love to use my cottage cheese
I always keep cottage cheese in the fridge, and this whipped dip is one of my favorite ways to use it. It’s a healthy snack you can enjoy in the afternoon and happily bring along to parties, game days, or potlucks.
Silky smooth, ready in five minutes, and packed with fresh flavor. Somehow loved even by guests who swear they don’t like cottage cheese. I grew up eating it on sandwiches and still reach for it in all kinds of ways – with eggs, tacos, bowls, chips, or straight from the spoon. It’s a staple in our house.

Ingredients
This garlic and herb cottage cheese dip comes together with everyday ingredients and takes just minutes to prepare.
Cottage cheese is the base, and once it’s blend, it turns incredibly smooth and creamy. Full-fat or low-fat both work well. Fresh herbs bring the flavor. I use chives, dill, and parsley, plus one garlic clove. A squeeze of lemon juice adds brightness, and salt and black pepper tie everything together.
Pro tip
Switch up the herbs depending on your mood. Basil, oregano, mint, thyme, or even arugula all work beautifully. No fresh herbs on hand? Use dried instead. About 2 tablespoons fresh = 1 teaspoon dried.

My favorite ways to serve this dip
There are so many ways to use this savory cottage cheese dip. Here are a few favorites:
- As a dip: Serve with carrots, celery, kohlrabi, bell peppers, radishes, and cucumber. It’s also great with chips, flatbread, crackers, pretzels, chicken wings, or crostini.
- As a spread: Slather it on sandwiches, toast, wraps, or burgers. My favorite is sourdough topped with tomato, a boiled egg, and a pinch of flaky salt.
- As a dressing: Loosen it with Greek yogurt or mayo, then drizzle it over salads.
- As a sauce: Combine it with pasta, your favorite proteins (shrimp, chicken, salmon,…), baked potatoes, or grain bowls.
The best equipment for cottage cheese dip
- Immersion blender: Gives you a slightly rustic texture, you can check out my favorite here. If needed, add 1 tablespoon of water to help it blend.
- Food processor: Best for a smooth, creamy finish. I have an 11-cup model, but a smaller one like this one works too.
- Blender: It works, but it’s not my first choice. The mixture can get stuck, so scrape down the sides and keep blending until smooth. If you’re on a lookout, this one is a good choice.
