Greek Style Spaghetti

dice the carrot

mince the garlic

finely chop the onion

add oil, garlic and onion to a large pot

add carrot, cook for 5 minutes

add ground beef, break up into pieces

add salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, thyme and bay leaves

cook until brown

pour in red wine, cook for 2 minutes

stir in tomato paste

add crushed tomatoes, simmer for 15 minutes

meanwhile,  cook the spaghetti

when ready, add 1/2 cup cooking water to sauce

drain the spaghetti

toss with sauce
