Homemade pizza in just 20 minutes? French bread pizza is the easiest way to achieve this without breaking any sweat. It’s nostalgic for adults and a kid’s best friend. It’s probably one of the fastest things to make for dinner that everyone at the table will be on board with. Not only is it a great snack or a fast lunch, but it’s definitely something you can serve for dinner paired with a simple salad. And it makes great leftovers too.
Making French bread pizza isn’t hard, you barely need a recipe. This one is extra cheesy, a little messy, and only needs a handful of ingredients to come together and is pretty much as easy as it gets. Just grab a loaf of soft French baguette and make layers of pizza sauce, balsamic sautéed mushrooms, two cheeses (shredded mozzarella and Parmesan), and pepperoni or thin slices of bacon. Then heat up the oven and you’re in business. It’s comfort food at its best. And if pepperoni isn’t your thing, use ham or make a vegetarian version. Top with chopped chives, ketchup and aioli. And don’t forget to serve with a salad drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. Who doesn’t love a recipe that’s simple and can taste this good?

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
Heat the olive oil in a skillet, add mushrooms and sauté for 3 minutes until brown. Add garlic and shallot, cook for 1 minute. Stir in balsamic vinegar, marjoram and chili flakes, season with salt and pepper. Cook for 1 minute more. Set aside.
Cut the bread in 3 equal pieces with a serrated knife, then cut each half lengthwise so you have 6 half pieces. Or cut the bread in half, so you have 4 half pieces.
Place the bread cut-side up on a rimmed baking sheet and spread the pizza sauce evenly onto the bread. Top with sautéed mushrooms, sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Top with pepperoni and bacon, if using. Bake until the cheese is melted, about 10-12 minutes.
Serve immediately with chopped chives, ketchup and aioli. Delicious with a side salad. Enjoy!
